I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for... Perogies!
Other than at your mom’s or grandma’s dinner table, where in Saskatchewan can you get the BEST perogies? It’s a very serious question that, for the sake of your taste buds, needs to be answered! Here’s what we know:
Baba's Perogies in @VisitSaskatoon is an adored institution who's claim to fame is being "the only Drive Thru perogie restaurant in @explorecanada!" The cheap and cheerful family run joint has been running for over 30 years and is a must visit for those looking to sample treats from the city's sizeable Ukrainian population. I of course ordered everything on the menu with extra sour cream: Cabbage rolls with onions and bacon, cheddar potato perogies with mushroom dill sauce, beet borscht and smokie sausage!
In related news, let’s not forget that seasonal favourite: the fowl/fall supper. These take place in rural towns across the province. Every autumn, community members whip up a feast to celebrate the bounty of the season. The easiest way to find a fall/fowl supper near you is to check out the local paper or to search on Google – yes really! Give it a try and don’t miss out on this prairie tradition.
