The town's sign and slogan "New York Is Big But This Is Biggar" remains one of the most recognizable symbols for the town of Biggar along with Milo Hanson and the Hanson Buck, the world record white-tailed deer.

Biggar is a dynamic and progressive place to live with an abundance of parks, organized sports and sports facilities. The community was home to the late Sandra Schmirler, three time world curling champion and 1988 Olympic Gold Medalist. In her memory, The Sandra Schmirler Olympic Gold Park was constructed in 2000; the park consists of a gazebo, soccer field, playground equipment, walking paths, Memorial Wall and a Wall of Fame.
