Danielson Provincial Park

Activities and Amenities

Danielson Provincial Park offers a wide variety of things to do during your visit.

Water Recreation

Lake Diefenbaker is a premiere location for a variety of watercraft users and one of the most popular fishing destinations in Saskatchewan.

Danielson offers beautiful, sandy beaches just in front of the Visitor Centre, with a large area for swimming. Changing facilities, picnic tables and a playground help to make this area fun for the whole family. Another beach is available at the top of the Gardiner Dam.

Lake Diefenbaker is one of the most popular angling bodies of water in Saskatchewan, with some of the best game fish in the province. The lake is home to 10 species of game fish, including walleye, northern pike, rainbow trout, sauger, burbot, lake trout, yellow perch, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and goldeye. Lake Diefenbaker is among the top walleye lakes in North America. There are two boat launches and fish filleting stations available. In winter, ice fishing is very popular.

Lake Diefenbaker is ideal for numerous water sports, including windsurfing, sailing and waterskiing.

Trails

The Trans Canada Trail passes through the eastern portion of the park. It features panoramic views of Lake Diefenbaker, large coulees, native prairie vistas, wetlands and wooded areas. You may spot some wildlife, including mule deer, white-tailed deer, sharp-tail grouse, jackrabbits and coyotes.

Cycling and mountain biking are permitted on the park trails, though some sections are sandy and quite difficult.

Geocaching

At Danielson Provincial Park, there are five geocaches that have treasures hidden inside. Use your own device, or check out a geocaching kit from the park office to join in the fun.

Disc Golf

Danielson has a 9-hole disc golf course. Starting at the entry gate, players make their way across open meadows, shady forests and over ancient coulees. The course is fun for all ages. Check out a set of discs at the entry gate, or bring your own.
