Road Trips

Space enough to dream...

... and room enough to explore. Pack yourself, family and friends into a car or RV and pick a direction. The roads are generally uncrowded, the people along the way are friendly, and the experiences are absolutely authentic.

Trans Canada Highway

This is the major east-west thoroughfare across Saskatchewan, with four lanes of divided highway almost all the way across the province. The first railway followed this route in the 1880s, and so did thousands of homesteaders. Discover the legacy of pioneers, railways and ranches.

Trans Canada Yellowhead Highway

The other major east-west highway across Saskatchewan cuts a northwesterly diagonal through scenic countryside and vibrant cities. Enjoy casinos, galleries, museums and shops - and don't miss the birdwatching at Quill Lakes.

CanAm Highway

Discover a bit of everything on this dramatic route. Part of the international CanAm Highway, it crosses into Saskatchewan at the Port of Oungre. By the end of the winding journey north, you'll find yourself in boreal forest and lake country.

Red Coat Trail

Follow the route taken in 1874 by the North West Mounted Police, forerunners of today’s Mounties, when they came west to quell the whiskey-trade. Historic sites, panoramic views, cultural icons and friendly people.

Northern Woods and Water Route

Welcome to fur trade country. Not quite prairie and not quite forest, but a combination of both we call parkland. Rivers run clear, lakes are inviting and well-tended campgrounds are plentiful. Pick your favourite and stay awhile.

The Louis Riel Trail

The two lane divided highway between Saskatoon and Regina is a regular commute for many. North of Saskatoon it connects major sites of the 1885 North West Resistance led by Louis Riel. The tale unfolds in museums along the way.

Regina to Yorkton

Drive from the Queen City to Yorkton and experience the cultural diversity that lies at the heart of the province. From the haunting legends of the Qu’Appelle Valley to the marvellous dome of St. Mary’s Ukrainian Church.

Swift Current to Meadow Lake

An alternate north-south route through the western areas of the province. Here you'll discover old paths of the fur trade, the roots of rebellion and days of settlement. Highlight: Meadow Lake Provincial Park and its 25 crystal clear lakes.

Saskatoon to Alberta Border

This well-travelled route takes you from the green parks and bustling streets of Saskatoon, through the charming streets of Rosetown, to Kindersley, home of national and international baseball tournaments.

The Saskota Travel Route

An easy-going drive that connects North Dakota and Saskatchewan in along an historic route. Enjoy a colourful mix of cultural experiences, and attractions including great golf courses and outstanding recreational sites.
