Wanuskewin Heritage Park is a National Historic Site, and Proposed UNESCO World Heritage Site. This land has been a gathering place for all Nations of the Northern Plains to meet for trade, for hunting and for ceremony. This tradition continues today as Wanuskewin has been a global gathering place for the past thirty years, welcoming guests from all corners of the world.

Renovations are now complete with an expansion of the Interpretive Centre, gallery spaces, and meeting rooms. The park now offers a refreshed restaurant, award-winning playground, hiking trails and robust interpretive programming, including guided hikes and traditional dance performances.

Situated on Saskatoon's northern edge, Wanuskewin Heritage Park interprets over 6,000 years of Northern Plains Indigenous culture. It is the longest running archeological dig site in Canada. Features include 19 pre-contact sites, a medicine wheel, tipi rings and buffalo jumps, located along 7 km of walking trails.

The site is now home to a herd of Plains Bison, descendants from the last 1,000 bison that remained on the Great Plains by the year 1870. Follow the trail from the paddocks and take in these majestic animals from the raised viewing platform.

The gift shop is the place to shop for authentic First Nations traditional handmade artworks. Browse the selection of handmade items such as jewellery and baskets, beautifully hand-beaded moccasins, mukluks, and incredible stone carvings, plus a selection of foods, fine art and clothing.

Wanuskewin's restaurant is the perfect place to experience a unique sense of culture. Enjoy amazing First Nation’s cuisine, with a modern flair, made from the freshest local ingredients. The menu includes bison, hearty soups and stews, delicious teas and more. Experience first hand why the restaurant was named one of the top ten Indigenous restaurants in Canada by Food Network Canada.

Wanuskewin Heritage Park offers an unforgettable full or half-day experience for your family. This sacred site has been awarded the top “Indigenous Tourism Destination” by the Tourism Industry Association of Canada (2016 and 2019), and has also won numerous provincial tourism awards including “2019 Business of the Year” from Tourism Saskatchewan.
