Athabasca Sand Dunes Provincial Park Location: Remote location. Extends along S shore of Lake Athabasca. Aircraft access from Uranium City, Stony Rapids and Fond du Lac.
Stunning landscape at the world's most northerly set of dune fields and Canada's largest active sand surface. Wilderness Park and ecologically fragile area characterized by sand dunes, pebble covered surfaces, sand blasted structures and rare plant species. Evidence also supports Native Indian use dating back 7,000 - 8,000 years. Sand dunes as high as 30 m. Six designated primitive camping areas with no onsite services, pack out what you pack in and check with Conservation Officers before entering the area. Guided tours available by licensed outfitters
