The village of Alsask is located along Hwy 7 just inside the Alberta/Saskatchean border. From the early 1960s to the late 1980s, a military facility containing the long range radar unit, the 44 Radar Squadron - part of the Pine Tree Line (Cold War era network of military radar stations) was located adjacent to the village. Remains from the facility were designated a heritage site in 2002. The village offers local services and recreational facilities.
