Deschambault Lake is located along the eastern shore of the lake with the same name at the end of Hwy 911. The community was named in 1880 after Mr. Deschambault, a Hudson's Bay Company postmaster at the time who was stationed at Reindeer Lake. The Woodland Cree Village of Deschambault Lake is now the new Treaty Land Entitlement Reserve that has since been named Kimoosom Pwatinak, which when translated means "Grandfather Dakota Land".
