The Last Mountain Regional Park Nature Trail, a self-guided walking trail, is an ideal site for birdwatching as it is situated in the Last Mountain Lake National Wildlife Area, North America's oldest bird sanctuary. The area is a popular migration point for thousands of birds every year, including pelicans, alder flycatchers, herons, orchard orioles, wood thrushes, tundra swans, western kingbirds, whooping cranes, yellow-rumped warblers and Swainson's hawks, just to name a few.
