La Roche Percee Provincial Historic Site & Short Creek Cairn

La Roche Percee is on the S slope of the Souris Valley about 0.5km E of Roche Percee. The Cairn is just W of Roche Percee on old Hwy 39.

Unusual rock formations eroded by wind and water. Once covered with symbolic animal carvings by First Nations and later autographs of early European explorers, US Cavalrymen, NWMP and surveyors. Commemorates the Short Creek Camp of the NWMP during the westward march of 1874. No services.
