What's happening around Saskatchewan

- Planning your Saskatchewan vacation is about to get easier, and a whole lot more fun as well! Our newly-redesigned website is chock full of great Saskatchewan scenes, relevant information, and complete event and product listings. And it’s all wrapped up in a beautifully-designed, easy-to-use new look. The website is scheduled to go live to the public in early January, 2008 – we’ll send you an email invitation to check it out once it’s up and running. 

Sled Dogs- The 11th Annual Canadian Challenge Sled Dog Race is set to kick off February 12, 2008 in Prince Albert. Twelve-dog teams compete on a 535km/300mi course which runs north to Stanley Mission and La Ronge. This race acts as a qualifying event for the Iditarod and Yukon Quest races. The eight-dog event is almost as grueling, covering over 360km/200mi. The Canadian Challenge wraps up in La Ronge on Sunday, February 17 with awards breakfasts for the 12-dog and 8-dog events. Wanuskewin Fire- Wanuskewin Heritage Park in Saskatoon is hosting the second annual Pipon (Winter) Festival January 26 and 27, 2008. The Festival runs from 10am to 5pm each day, and includes fun family events and activities, including crafts, bake sale, dance performances, Bannock Bake, sled dog demonstrations, sleigh rides, snowshoeing, wiener roast with marshmallows and hot chocolate and much more. The Conexus Arts Centre in Regina is the location of the third annual and newly expanded Festiv-Ale, where over 300 different beers from major to micro breweries are available for sampling. Festiv-ale also features live musical entertainment, a selection of great pub food, the Festiv-Ale store, a Legion Color Party Parade with Pipers and much more.
