WinterShines Festival in Saskatoon Packed With Events

January 23 - February 7, 2010

Ice Carvings

Celebrate Saskatoon's local culture at WinterShines. This 16-day festival will be packed with activities like ice and snow carving, kite-boarding, theatre and more. 

Ice Carvers from across the Prairies will entertain and amaze with their skill and creativity, carving displays from blocks of ice. Visitors are invited to come down to Market Square at River Landing, watch the ice carving, talk with the artists and vote on your favourite display. Awards will be given out on Sunday, January 31st at 3:00pm. 

Snow CarvingLocal carvers will also create a "Snow Home" from a block of snow at River Landing by Persephone Theatre. Walk the River Landing path from Market Square to the Traffic Bridge at 3rd Avenue and watch these artists at their best. The finale of the "Parade of Snow Homes" will take place on Wednesday evening, January 27 where these homes will be lit.
