Gravelbourg’s Summer Solstice Festival d’été a Weekend of Art, Music and Fun

Gravelbourg Summer Solstice FestivalThe 10th annual Summer Solstice Festival d’été kicks off on Friday June 18, in Gravelbourg. The International Food Festival at the Palestre Arena will give visitors a taste of traditional cuisine from countries like Holland, Mexico, Korea, the Philippines, and many others.

This year’s German Oktoberfest theme will have guests dancing to the rhythms of the Al Almassey Band, polka band and Austrian Edelweiss Dancers. At 10:00pm, finish your evening off with the Mudmen performing at Whylee Coyotee’s Bar and Grill.  

On Saturday June 19, the festival continues on the Courthouse lawn with a fantastic array of activities for the whole family. Venues include the Artisan Village, Art x 9 display, Literary Corner, Workshops, Art Exhibition and CFRG 93.1 fm Open Mic. Discover your artistic side while the little one's enjoy the Kid’s Corner featuring bouncy castles, face painting, crafts, juggling and theatre workshops and special entertainment by Teddy the Clown.  

Gravelbourg Summer Solstice FestivalSaturday’s Main Stage opens at 2:00pm, and the performances this year are hot! Visitors will enjoy performances by Mobadass, Hoop Dancer Terrence Littletent and Drum Circle, Alexis Normand, Ian Kelly, Mama Lljata, Annette Campagne, Codie Prevost, and The Mudmen. There is something for everyone with music ranging from Jazz, Folk, Pop, Country, Latin, Rock and Island Rock.  

The headliner, Mobadass, is back by popular demand. The supremely danceable songs and fabulous Island Rock sound of Mobadass will keep the crowd energized into the night. Earl Pereira, co-founder of Wide Mouth Mason, combines his Filipino and Canadian cultures to inspire Mobadass' soulfull, spicy music.
