Welcome to SaskSecrets
Welcome to an abbreviated November, 2007 edition of SaskSecrets, Tourism Saskatchewan’s online newsletter. We’re keeping things short and sweet this month as we are busy working on our brand new Tourism Saskatchewan website. We’re very excited about this fantastic new site, and you’ll be able to check it our for yourself in early 2008!
In the meantime, check out SaskSecrets for the interesting story of homesteader and instrument collector Stephen Kolbinson, get an update on the health of Mac the Moose, and enter this month’s contest for a winter getaway package courtesy Land of the Loon Resort and Sundogs Sled Excursions.
Stephen Kolbinson had a dream. As one of Saskatchewan’s original homesteaders, this Icelandic Canadian gentleman farmer established a farm near Kindersley. But his passions extended far beyond the borders of his two-an-a-half section homestead.
Mac the Moose has been standing tall for more than two decades, greeting visitors to Moose Jaw or beckoning passing travelers to stop in for a visit. But the lovable 9,000 kilogram / ten ton Mac is not feeling 100% these days.
From high tea at the Dickens Village Festival to the shimmering lights of the SIGA Enchanted Forest, find out what's happening around Saskatchewan. For a full listing of Saskatchewan events, visit our Events page.
The 2008 Tourism Saskatchewan Land of Living Skies Calendar makes a great holiday gift. This beautiful wall calendar includes twelve breathtaking images from the Tourism Saskatchewan collection.
If you’ve never tried snowmobiling, this is a great introduction to a fabulous Saskatchewan winter activity. And if you’re an experienced sledder, come up and explore the beautiful Lac La Ronge area.
