"Zipline Fun" Wins the 2012 Saskatchewan Discovery Guide Cover Contest

In October 2011, as we were preparing the 2012 Saskatchewan Discovery Guide, we launched our "Choose the Cover" Contest, during which we asked our Facebook fans and others to help us decide what image would appear on the cover.

We pored through our library of great Saskatchewan imagery, and narrowed the choices down to two candidates. One shot featured a beach at sunset, the other a zipline and tall trees in the Cypress Hills. Visitors to our Facebook page and to our website were able to vote for their favourite, and then were also able to enter to win an iPad 2 or one of five t-shirts. Sharing on Facebook and Twitter was encouraged to help increase participation.

The response was overwhelming, with hundreds of thousands of votes cast over the two weeks that the contest ran. Ultimately, the Cypress Hills shot garnered the most votes, and will be used on the cover of the 2012 Saskatchewan Discovery Guide.

Ron Campbell of Star City, Saskatchewan, was randomly selected from those who had entered the draw, and is the winner of an Apple iPad 2. Five other lucky contestants received our popular "Saskatchewan: Hard to Spell, Easy to Draw" t-shirts.

We thank all those who took the time to vote and to share this contest with others. The 2012 Saskatchewan Discovery Guide, which is Tourism Saskatchewan’s full-colour, comprehensive travel publication filled with information on attractions, events, accommodations, parks, campgrounds, history, culture, communities, adventure, recreation opportunities, and more, will be available in January 2012.
