Four great experiences for your next Lumsden day trip
Some vacations take months of planning and weeks away from home, but you can turn a quiet Saturday into a spontaneous day trip. Take your friends, fill your tank and discover a few hidden gems in the town of Lumsden, just a 15 minute drive from Regina.
Free Bird Restaurant
Free Bird’s philosophy is “common food done uncommonly well.” Comments on the Free Bird Facebook page usually come with plenty of exclamation points and run the gamut from “Yuuummmmmy” to “WOW!!!!!!!!”
Lunches are delicious and affordable, and range from grilled vegetable salads to pasta and burger features.
Thr3e Clothing Connection
Located across the street from Free Bird, Thr3e Clothing Connection has racks and racks of beautiful and stylish clothes for women. Take some time to explore and treat yourself!
“Shopping at Thr3e Clothing Connection is a seamless experience, the ultimate shopping boutique for any woman! From the moment you walk in you are greeted in such a way that makes you feel like a priority. The phenomenal staff are professional, social, knowledgeable, and warm. You will leave with pieces that are stylish but also suit your shape! Thank you for the incomparable shopping experience Breanne! I cannot wait to return.” – Kaley S.
Last Mountain Distillery
Are you curious to find out exactly how a handful of grain becomes a glass of spirits? Take a tour of Last Mountain Distillery with owners Colin and Meredith Schmidt, who will walk you through the process and even let you in on the secret of their dill pickle vodka (hint: it’s dill). Tours are available on Saturdays from 12 to 5 p.m. Pick up a bottle of spirits made from Saskatchewan grain on your way out.
Over the Hill Orchards
Not far from Lumsden is Over the Hill Orchards and Winery, a certified organic fruit grower. The orchard may be best known for its tangy Prairie Cherry products and a selection of fruit wines. Tours and tastings are available for groups of ten or more, but visitors are welcome to stop in and pick up a bottle of wine, a package of Prairie Cherry Chocolates or a gluten-free pie.
