Soakers, Somersaults and Science: Family-friendly Places to Play

It’s time to face a basic truth about winter in Saskatchewan: it’s cold out there. Fortunately, there are plenty of family-friendly indoor activities for parents and kids around the province. Check these out!

Waterparks

Get soaked. There’s no better way for a family to spend an afternoon than splashing around at a waterpark. Best of all, there are waterslides all over the province. Access Communications Co-operative Water Park in Yorkton and Northern Lights Palace in Melfort are only two.

Galleries

Saskatchewan’s public art galleries offer all kinds of activities to engage kids in art. The Mann Art Gallery in Prince Albert, the Remai Modern in Saskatoon and Regina’s MacKenzie Art Gallery will occupy and delight the kids while the parents take in the art.

Museums

Trains, planes, automobiles. The Western Development Museum in Moose Jaw houses vintage and historical vehicles for kids to wow over. Who are we kidding? Grown-ups will wow over them too. If that isn’t enough, you can check out the other WDM locations around the province, or visit the Nutrien Wonderhub in Saskatoon, the Royal Saskatchewan Museum in Regina, or the Lloydminster Museum + Archives in Lloydminster.

Science Centres

Stop what you’re doing and get some science in your Saturday. The Saskatchewan Science Centre in Regina offers an afternoon’s worth of interactive exhibits, not to mention the Kramer IMAX Theatre. Or, explore the Museum of Natural Sciences on the University of Saskatchewan campus in Saskatoon on a scavenger hunt!

Trampoline Parks

Forget the trampoline in your backyard. Places like Apex Adventure Plex in Saskatoon and Get Air in Regina, offer a gigantic room full of bouncy surfaces and trained staff ready to make sure you and your family have a fun and safe experience.
