Turn your idea into reality at Buffalo Pound

Buffalo Pound Provincial Park is a four season provincial park that is converting the former ski chalet building into a modern, multi-purpose visitor centre. It will serve as a gathering point for park visitors and adventure enthusiasts!

About Buffalo Pound

Buffalo Pound offers excellent hiking and biking trails, fishing, canoeing and kayaking opportunities. The park is home to one of mountain biking's best kept secrets. With over 30 km of trails, beginner to expert riders can enjoy the rolling, steep-sided hills surrounding them. Buffalo Pound also offers a new swimming pool, inflatable water park, mini golf course, axe throwing and two disc golf courses that are enjoyed by many. Winter camping, snowshoe and cross country ski trails, a tobogganing hill, fat tire biking and ice fishing are all reasons for the visitors to keep coming year round.

The visitor centre is anticipated to open to the public in summer 2022 and is being prepared to house a café or bistro style business with space for indoor and outdoor seating.

There are also opportunities for businesses to use the space for:

  • Pop-up shops
  • A place to meet your clients before their adventure
  • A place to host events
  • A place for clients to stop after their adventure

The building has a large wrap around deck and there will be plenty of outdoor green space your business could take advantage of with potential for indoor, safe-storage for equipment. There is plenty of space for your business inside and out. Visitors to Buffalo Pound Provincial Park are wanting to take their experience to the next level, seeking memorable activities and adventures to complement their camping experience. We want to work with you to provide exciting, new activities and experiences that we know our park visitors will love!

We have the people

Whether it’s an overnight camping trip, a day trip or a special event, Buffalo Pound is an active park with many visitors coming and going throughout the year.

Based on entry permits sold, the number of days visitors have spent in the park has been trending upward over the past three years (see chart).

Buffalo Pound is in close proximity to the urban populations of Regina and Moose Jaw, with approximately 400 cottages surrounding the park.

Once complete, the visitor centre will be the central hub where many will gather, with potential to draw in even more visitors from surrounding areas in the years to come.

We envision the centre serving as the headquarters for special interest groups to hold events and tournaments. This past summer, the park saw a number of one-day special events including trail races (running and biking), disc golf and the 5th Annual Smoke n’ the Valley BBQ Competition. Each event had 100+ attendees.

You have our support.

Those who enter into an agreement with Saskatchewan Parks will receive free promotion on our social media pages, web pages, advertising campaigns and more. We are excited to launch the new centre and are eager to have it become the heart of Buffalo Pound. We want to work with you to provide the best experience possible for our visitors.
