Saltcoats District Regional Park - Leflay Trail
Main access into Saltcoats off Hwy 16, 1 km S along railway to park.
The Leflay Trail, part of the Yellowhead Flyway Birding Trail Association network, offers a serene 2.8 km walk through southeast Saskatchewan’s diverse ecosystems. This trail, accessible via Saltcoats District Regional Park, takes approximately one hour to complete and features distinctive landscapes including parkland aspen and balsam poplar groves alongside the east shoreline of Anderson Lake. Named after its original owners, Jay and Minne Leflay, the trail is now maintained by the Klause family who continue to permit public access.
Visitors can explore the trail in four segments, each offering unique natural sights. The area boasts 47 plant and 13 tree and shrub varieties, providing a habitat for an array of wildlife including raccoons, deer, and various bird species. The trail features informative signs, a lookout point, and picnic tables.
