Killaly was incorporated as a village in 1909 and was named after an engineer with the Canadian Pacific Railway. The village is located approximately 15 minutes south of Melville and 10 minutes north of the Qu'Appelle Valley, Crooked Lake, and Round Lake, which offer tourists a variety of recreational activities. The Mariahilf Cairn, located outside of Killaly, commemorates the history of the area.
