The community has over 140 businesses that offer so​​me of the best shopping and services in Saskatchewan's southeast corner. In addition to the new spray park​ and off-leash dog park, the town features a skating arena, a curling rink, a 9-hole grass greens golf course, a zero-entry outdoor swimming pool, ball diamonds, soccer field, a public library, museum/tourist booth (converted CN train station), a movie theatre (in the Memorial Hall) and full service campsites and 2 km of walking trails ​in Lions Park. Carlyle also has a number of restaurants that offer a wide variety of cuisine, and it boasts two newly constructed hotels with modern rooms and an array of amenities.
 
Carlyle is proud to host many community events each year. In August it hosts the Carlyle Fun Dayz which offers good ol’ fashioned family fun for people of all ages. In September, the Homespun Craft Show, a large vendor craft sale, in conjunction with a quilt show is held, and each December, the community turns back time and puts on the annual Dickens Village Festival, a fantastic festival that will definitely chase away anyone's bah humbugs.
