Makwa

Makwa is derived from the Cree word for loon - 'the bird of good fortune'. The community is located 40 km west of Meadow Lake on Hwy 304. Cattle and grain farming are the primary sources of revenue and the resort sector in the surrounding area also contributes to the village's economy.
