Located in the southeast part of the province, Windthorst is 15 km west of Kipling on Hwy 48. The community and surrounding area offer a variety of year-round recreation. During the summer, check out the Windthorst Museum located in the former Masonic Lodge building on Matthews St, play a round of golf at the 9-hole sand greens Windthorst Country Club or enjoy some rustic camping with all the amenities at the Windthorst Campground. In the fall, the area is a popular hunting spot for waterfowl, deer and moose. Snowmobile enthusiasts will enjoy the area's groomed snowmobile trails during the winter. The community is also a 30-minute drive from Moose Mountain Provincial Park. Windthorst offers services including a butcher shop and a service station that can provide tire and oil changes.
