It's situated on the channel or 'narrows' between Peter Pond and Churchill lakes, an area used long ago as an ancient Indigenous bison (or buffalo) hunting site. Industry in the area is diverse ranging from mining and forestry to fishing, wild rice harvesting and tourism.
