Buffalo Narrows

The northern community of Buffalo Narrows is a major centre in the area, located between the communities of Ile-a-la-Crosse and La Loche on Hwy 55. It's situated on the channel or 'narrows' between Peter Pond and Churchill lakes, an area used long ago as an ancient Indigenous bison (or buffalo) hunting site. Industry in the area is diverse ranging from mining and forestry to fishing, wild rice harvesting and tourism.
