Residents of Abbey pride themselves on being friendly and welcoming. The community hosts a variety of events throughout the year including comedian nights, dances, fall suppers, craft fairs, learn-to classes and more. There is also the annual Sandhills Rodeo held every June and the farmers' market held every Thursday evening during the summer months, while the curling and skating rinks are busy from December to March. Open year round, the Abbey Business and Community Centre is the hub of social, recreational and educational events and programs for the area.
