Accessible only by boat or light aircraft, the Northern Settlement of Wollaston Lake is located on the east shore of the lake from which its name is derived. The lake was named in 1807 by Peter Fidler to honour George Hyde Wollaston, a member of the governor's committee of the Hudson's Bay Company at the time. This deep, freshwater lake provides world-class fishing for northern pike, lake trout, walleye and Arctic grayling.
