Chaplin Nature Centre

Hwy 1, Chaplin, 45 minutes W of Moose Jaw.
The Chaplin Nature Centre, conveniently situated on Hwy 1 at Chaplin, provides visitors with an understanding of the area's importance related to shorebirds, brine shrimp and the mining industry.​​ Part of the Western Hemisphere Shorebird Reserve Network, Chaplin, Old Wives and Reed Lakes are important inland sites for migrating birds including over 30 species of shorebirds, American Avocet and endangered Piping Plover. The area sees over 100,000 birds each year stop at Chaplin Lake to refuel or nest and raise their young on their migratory journey. Bird Tours of Chaplin Lake are available to be booked through the nature centre from late May to mid-September. The nature centre features a number of exhibits, informational displays, dioramas, and an area for kids with an interactive display table and a video theatre featuring wildlife films and features of the area. Their gift shop contains merchandise and arts and crafts from Saskatchewan artists, plus educational materials and brochures, snacks and drinks. The Chaplin Nature Centre is open from late May to mid-September. Phone to confirm hours before arriving.
