Melfort & District Museum

The Melfort & District Museum's collection showcases the agricultural and social/cultural history of Melfort and area. A new Indigenous and Archaeology Building including over 10,000 items was added in 2022. Extensive displays feature prominent Melfort settlers, including Dr. Alfred Schmitz Shadd. The onsite rural village includes a period log house, various businesses, church and school and a large agricultural display. Demonstrations of sawmill, blacksmith and gristmill operations as well as flintnapping by skilled First Nations craftsmen occur occasionally. For visitors researching their family history in the area, an archives is available.
