Last Mountain Bird Observatory
Last Mountain Bird Observatory is located in Last Mountain Regional Park (LMRP) on the NE shore of Last Mountain Lake. From Govan, travel 5 km N on Hwy 20, turn W at the sign for Last Mountain Regional Park and follow the gravel road for 15 km to the LMRP gate. Once through the park gate, follow the road to the end; LMBO is on your left.
Last Mountain Bird Observatory (LMBO), nestled within Last Mountain Lake in Saskatchewan, offers a unique opportunity for bird enthusiasts. As the province's only bird monitoring station, LMBO engages in the observation, capturing, and banding of migratory birds during peak seasons in spring and fall. Visitors are welcome in May, August, and September to participate and learn about bird banding techniques and local natural heritage. An entry fee is required for Last Mountain Regional Park, but no additional fees apply for participating in LMBO activities. For group visits or inquiries, contact jrustad@naturesask.ca.
