Fort Pelly-Livingstone Museum

401 - 3rd Ave, Pelly.

The Fort Pelly-Livingstone Museum offers an insightful glimpse into the early history of the Northwest Territories. Visitors can explore three historical buildings: the Anglican Church, established in 1910 and a designated Municipal Heritage Property; a former CN Train Station, evoking the bygone era of passenger trains; and the brick RCMP barracks, linking directly to Fort Livingstone's storied past. Tours are available by request, with bus parking and picnic facilities provided. The main level of the barracks is wheelchair accessible.

Adjacent to the museum, the historic sites of Fort Pelly and Fort Livingstone are marked by cairns, where, in early May, visitors can witness thousands of garter snakes emerge from hibernation. Mother's Day typically offers the best viewing, with peak times varying with the weather.
