George Genereux Urban Regional Park

W of Saskatoon.

The Saskatoon afforestation areas, "Saskatoon’s Hidden Gems," started out as tree nurseries and were preserved in perpetuity by city council in 1972. The Friends of the Saskatoon Afforestation Areas now have a mandate to advocate for and protect the 60 hectare (148-acre) George Genereux Urban Regional Park. The mixed forest wildwoods feature native and naturalized forest species of 55 tree species and over 60 species at risk including the Green Ash and American Elm on the IUCN Red List. The park welcomes visitors for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing albeit without formal cross-country ski trails. Camping is not permitted. Please respect this park space, it’s semi-wilderness habitat, wildlife and eco-tourists. Donations are greatly appreciated and help support the conservation of the area.
