Located 20 minutes northeast of Moose Jaw, Buffalo Pound Provincial Park offers a balanced blend of nature and recreational opportunities. Once used by First Nations to corral bison, the park maintains a captive herd in a paddock that's situated among the area's scenic rolling hills.  

This park offers excellent hiking, mountain biking and fat biking trails, fishing, canoeing and kayaking opportunities. Two disc golf courses - a beginner 9-hole disc golf course and a professional 18-hole disc golf course. Newly built heated outdoor pool opened in 2020. Enjoy migrant waterfowl viewing at Nicolle Flats Interpretive Area and Marsh Boardwalk. The park is a great destination for day-trips, offering awesome views of the Qu'Appelle Valley which are especially spectacular in the fall. Along with multiple-night camping options, Buffalo Pound is the perfect choice for your next visit. For that perfect getaway with minimal effort and preparation, Buffalo Pound has two Camp-Easy yurts available for booking.

Buffalo Pound Provincial Park

Buffalo Pound Provincial Park gets its name from the pound hunting technique practiced here by Indigenous peoples since time immemorial. There is so much to experience in this important gathering place for Indigenous and settler communities. Visit Nicolle Homestead at the park for Prairie Day, a celebration of Indigenous and settler culture on National Indigenous Peoples Day. Park Interpreters, presenters and knowledge keepers will offer a day filled with activities, experiences and learning at Buffalo Pound Provincial Park. Wrap up the day with a concert! This event is free with a valid Park Entry Permit. Event time 1 - 8:30 p.m.
