The hamlet of MacDowall is located 30 km southwest of Prince Albert on Hwy 11, just east of the Nisbet Provincial Forest. The community's name honours Day Hort MacDowall, a Prince Albert lumber merchant, sawmill operator and prominent local politician of the time. While in the area, take in the annual June Bug Festival held the first weekend in June featuring a parade and slow-pitch tournament, the St. Stephens Fall Supper in September and the Harvest Ball in November.
