The Trailhead is approximately 800 m S of the Cold River Campground on Hwy 919, on the W end of Meadow Lake Provincial Park.

Spanning 135 km, the Boreal Trail is the only year-round destination backpacking trail in the Saskatchewan Provincial Park system.
The trail offers multi-day trips, backcountry camping and a variety of start and end points. Rewarding and challenging, the trail gives hikers a close-up view of the lush boreal forest and sparkling clear lakes of the park.
Trail markers at every kilometre and at intersecting trails; designated 'Leave No Trace' campsites which include a pit toilet, barbecue and bear-proof food locker. Pre-registration required with a camping fee of $11 per tent per night to use the backcountry campsites. Register at the park's administration office if planning to overnight on the trail and to obtain the most up-to-date camping information.
