Saskatchewan’s vast open skies are some of the darkest in Canada, which makes it the perfect place to view the night sky and all its wonders. Experience the majesty of the northern lights year-round and view the Milky Way with the naked eye on some of the darkest places on the planet. Saskatchewan has two designated dark sky preserves to explore, Grasslands National Park and Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park.

Narrow Hills Provincial Park
In 2004 Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park became Saskatchewan's first Dark Sky Preserve. The Saskatchewan Summer Star Party is hosted there yearly in August.
Saskatchewan-based photographer, Scott Aspinall canoed across fast-moving, frigid waters in the dark of night above one of Saskatchewan's tallest waterfalls with one goal in mind: photographing the Milky Way core centered over Nistowiak Falls.
